Opportunity - UMIP Fellows

UMIP, The University of Manchester’s technology transfer office, are currently recruiting early stage researchers and full-time postgraduate students from the University to join our UMIP Fellows Programme. UMIP Fellows  will be required to work in their spare time alongside UMIP’s Commercialisation Executives to undertake a range of time critical short project assignments. Commitment and availability is required for up to 8 hours per week to undertake paid project work.

Policy@Manchester New Researchers Network (NRN) Spring Event

‘Challenges in Policy Evaluation’

Following the launch of the NRN in the Policy@Manchester week in October 2012, we are pleased to invite you to attend the second NRN event to take place on 7th of May 2013. As an inter-disciplinary forum for research students and post-doctoral researchers, the main theme of this event is ‘Challenges in policy evaluation’. All PGRs and post-docs who are working on policy or looking to have an impact on policy are very welcome to attend.

 

The essentials

Date: Tuesday 7th of May 2013

Time: 10:00 – 13:00

Place: Whitworth Council Chamber

What: Research presentations, ‘open space discussion’ and free lunch

Who: Research students and post-docs from the University of Manchester researching policy or doing research relevant to policy making

Event theme: ‘Challenges in policy evaluation’

 

Call for abstracts

Those interested in presenting their research are invited to send us an abstract for a 15 minute paper. Abstract should not exceed 300 words and expected to be linked to the main theme of this event, ‘challenged in policy evaluation’. In addition, applicants are also required to provide the following information in their emails:

  • Name
  • Position (e.g., MPhil/ PhD/ Post-doc)
  • Department and faculty
  • Research topic
  • If applicable: dietary requests

The deadline for abstract submission is 20th of March 2013 and notification of acceptance will be emailed during the first week of April.
